No referral is required for private appointments.

A referral is needed for Medicare rebates or NDIS funding.

This varies depending on your goals and needs. We review progress together and adjust over time.

With your consent, updates can be provided to your personal support people, GP, support coordinator, or any other members of your care team.

Services are available for individuals aged 16 years and over

It is a Medicare-supported plan prepared by your GP to help you access treatment for mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, stress, trauma or adjustment difficulties.

If you’re eligible, your GP will complete an assessment and create a plan outlining your support needs. You can then be referred to eligible mental health professionals, including Medicare-registered Occupational Therapists.

Under a Mental Health Care Plan, you can access:

Up to 10 Medicare-rebated individual therapy sessions per calendar year

Typically, your GP will initially refer you for up to 6 sessions. A review appointment is then required to access the remaining sessions.

A EDMP is a Medicare-supported care plan your doctor can prepare for you if you are experiencing an eating disorder. 

This plan is specifically designed to support longer-term, evidence-based treatment for conditions like anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder.

Once your GP prepares the plan, you (or your GP) can refer you to eligible allied health professionals, including psychologists, dietitians and eligible Occupational Therapists who provide treatment linked to your eating disorder plan. 

Under this plan you may be able to access:

Up to 40 Medicare-rebated psychological treatment sessions in a 12-month period

Up to 20 Medicare-rebated dietetic sessions in a 12-month period

It is important to note under these plans there are ongoing reviews required by the doctor who made the initial EDMP referral. This includes after every 10 sessions, and that at or before 20 sessions, a review is needed by both the GP and either a psychiatrist or paediatrician to activate access to more sessions. We can discuss this and support you through this process.
